CYCLES ECONOMIQUES EN ALGÉRIE : IDENTIFICATION ET CARACTÉRISATION

Abstract

We propose, in this article, to study and extract the characteristics of the Algerian economic cycle. The adoption of the Bry-Boschan’s non-parametric approach to the Algeria production index allowed us to extract both the reference cycle and the growth cycle of the Algerian economy over the period 1992 to 2016. The results obtained show that, for the reference cycle, there is little relationship between the expansion phase and the severity of the previous recession and its subsequent influence. For the growth cycle, it is generally related to the socio-economic events that the country has gone through during this period.
