Abstract
A phenomenon that, in the history of humanity, is both unprecedented and unavoidable, demographic aging affects all countries and all organizations (private, public, international, etc.). However, the resulting risks and challenges do not, as yet, appear to have been clearly identified. There is a very real risk of a knowledge crash (owing in particular but not exclusively to the rather sizeable waves of retirement) whose scope has, undoubtedly, not been properly assessed. This article provides a framework for inquiring into the notions of knowledge, generations and transfers. It proposes a comprehensive approach, starting with a strategic analysis of knowledge assets and ending with the production of sociotechnical systems for intergenerational transfer of knowledge.
