Abstract

The adoption of scientific assessment methods for risk management is becoming an inevitable concern for commercial banks, especially with increasing potential risks and fierce competition.
Through this paper, we aim to adopt the Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) model as Multicriteria decision-making approach, in order to assess the performance of five commercial banks by a more viable system, based on 25 qualitative and quantitative indicators.
The application of this method allowed the classification of commercial banks in the market by comparing their operational performance. This research concluded that the AHP model is adequate in the process of evaluating bank performance.
