Motorisation des ménages et mobilité urbaine cas des villes de Béjaia et de Tizi-ouzou

Abstract

This paper presents the main characteristics of car ownership and daily mobility in the citie of Bejaia and Tizi-Ouzou (Algeria). Our approach consists in analyzing zone by zone the main determinents of car ownership (public transport supply, population density, households income).

In a context where fuel price is the lowest in the world and where public transport expenditure can reach one third of the minimum wage, public transport supply is too low, while car ownership is moderate.  Thus, an environmental objective is to maintain a low level of car ownership by developing more sustainable transport means.
