Résumé

This study aims to analyze the impact of corruption on economic development in the Arab countries based on annual data from 2012 to 2018. To achieve this goal, standard Analysis is employed through the use of Panel data models (cross-sectional time study) on the Corruption Perceptions Index (CPI) as independent variables and per capita gross domestic product as a dependent variable. The study concludes that corruption has a negative impact on economic development, pointing out the differences and variations in the degree of impact of corruption on economic development in the Arab countries, that are linked to several factors, including the differentiation of Arab countries in terms of the nature of governing systems, in which the monarchy seems to be the most stable. This distinguished The Gulf countries from the rest of the Arab countries, where the precarious security situation leads to exacerbation of this phenomenon.
