MASSIVE INVESTMENTS DURING FIFTY YEARS FOR WHAT GROWTH ?
Main Article Content
Abstract
The analysis of development experience led by Algeria during the fifty years of independence reveals several paradoxes. Its economy has benefited from a relativity high rate of investments (in comparison with other developing countries), even if its rate of economic growth has been quite modest. However, the weakness of economic growth did not hinder human development which has known remarkable evolution between 1970 and 2011, exceeding, in recent years, the global average and the Arab centuries. Finally, this retrospective analysis shows how Algeria has experienced three major economic cycles with growth and crisis, between 1962 and 2012 that do not match the political cycles that Algeria has known.
