Abstract
This paper analyzes the process of transition of the Algerian economy of an interventionist development model to a market economy one. The various laws on the restructuring of public enterprises, on the easing of outside restrictions on trade and the privatization of the private sector mark the beginning of a process of rehabilitation of the small and mediumsized firms which occupy henceforth a central place(square) in the orientations. Based on the entrepreneurs all the hopes of the creation of employment and the economic growth. From an empirical inquiry led in Algiers and in Kabylia, we shall try to analyze the social, professional and family trajectories of the Algerian entrepreneurs operating essentially in small and medium sized firms and to propose a typology.
