Abstract

In recent years in Algeria, significant investments in water mobilization, water supply and distribution infrastructure have been made (dams, transfers and desalination of seawater). This article presents an analysis of the equipment budget for the water resources sector from 1990 onwards. The results of our analysis show, firstly, an under-utilization of the  budget from the year 2000, due to the low absorptive capacity of the sector, then the monopolization b y the sub-sector of the drinking water supply / Adduction of the largest share of the budget with an average of 56% (2005-2013) of the sector's total consumption. The development of the drinking water supply / Adduction has been done to the detriment of other sub-sectors, particularly irrigation which has benefited only b y 4 % of the overall expenditure.
