Abstract

Today, building and maintaining competitive business advantages requires building interactions with different external actors including universities. In Algeria, the state has become aware of this importance through the establishment of an organizational and institutional framework aimed at fostering closer relations between companies and public research institutions. Thus, the purpose of this article is to try to analyze in this context collaborations from the point of view of the company that build their innovation activities solicits the expertise of public research institutions. We have adopted a mixed research approach (quantitative and qualitative) in order to decipher the profile of the companies that cooperate and to determine modality of approximation adopted.. The results of the research show that collaboration is more sought after by large companies those with an in-house R & D structure. They also highlight the existence of five methods of bringing business and public research institutions closer together: the framework agreement of a scientific and technical nature, the practical training agreement, the consulting contract, the study contract and the research contract.
